Cristina Álvarez Baquerizo

Born in Madrid, in 1956.

Degree in Law, the Universidad Complutense Madrid June 1979, has been a lawyer with full time dedication to environmental law since 1982.

Has been legal adviser for environmental organizations on nature's protection and, from 1995 to 2006 Associate-Director of the Spanish office of the IEEP (Institute for European Environmental Policy)

Her speciality on Environmental Law is the communitarian law, in particular refer to Biodiversity Conservation and Environmental impact assessment.

In the last years she has act as lawyer in courts for SEO/Birdlife, and another civic entities. She has also participated in research projects for legal developed and improve for European and Spanish authorities. (Environmental Commission of the European parliament, Spanish Environmental Department). She also acts as occasional teacher for institutions related to the nature protection such as the Nature Protection Service of the Civil Guard, Forest Agents, or scientific entities as the National Museum of Natural Sciences, Bar Associations, or the Universities of Salamanca, Bask Country, and Madrid.
