Born in 1972 in Gran Canaria, Spain
CEO and co-founder of SONSETC MAKING SENSE OF SOUNDS, spin-off company of the Laboratory of Applied Bioacustics of The Technical University of Catalonia, BarcelonaTech, Spain and Trustee of The Sense of Silence Foundation. He co-founded his practice Architecture and Design Studio in 2000 being the principal and in charge of the design and construction of the extension of the LAB building and of many of small and large scales buildings and urban spaces, some of them worldwide awarded. At the same time he was in charge of many art media, installations and graphic design projects that has been featured in a number of international books, magazines and websites. Editor member of the architectural magazine Quaderns d’Arquitectura i Urbanisme (Barcelona, 2003-2005).
Antonio M. Sánchez holds an Architecture degree at the Technical Architecture School of Barcelona, Technical University of Catalonia, Spain. His on going PhD is based on biodiversity monitoring systems using artificial neural networks and the use of common materials as acoustic sensors for a new era of smart buildings and cities. Trained also as an architect at the Southern California Institute of California (SCI-Arch) and the Technical University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Now is developing software and designing autonomous air and underwater prototypes for monitoring natural ecosystems through bioacoustics and visual sensors using artificial neural networks.
